The Village of Shorewood is seeking to fill the position of Forester. Under the general direction of the Public Works Director and Assistant Public Works Director, the position’s primary duties include skilled, semi-skilled and laborer tasks involved in the care and maintenance of the Village’s urban forest. Winter operations and response to emergency incidents after hours are required and the successful candidate will be cross-trained in other DPW functions, including street maintenance, collections, and sewer and water utility maintenance among others. Some formal forestry education is preferred. Minimum qualifications include a High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least three years of experience in forestry; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Selected candidate must have an ISA or some formal forestry education in lieu of an ISA. Additional training will be provided at the discretion of the Director or the Assistant Director. Selected candidate must also successfully complete a drug test and physical to show they can perform the physical demands listed in the job description as well as the possession of a commercial driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
